A multi-storey building in India has collapsed because giant advertising billboards fixed to the roof destabilised the structure, leaving it susceptible to the slightest gust of wind. The 35-year-old building in Surat, in the western Indian state of Gujarat, started to tilt two days ago and was finally blown over by winds of just 10 miles per hour. Officials wisely evacuated the building before its final collapse yesterday to avoid any casualties.Billboards on the terrace of the building, that use foundation columns as the base to hold them up, are being blamed as the cause. No-one was injured when the the building took its final tumble.
