Miracle Cellphone Stickers

The Russian Orthodox Church has started to sell stickers that, when put on a mobile phone, will miraculously protect its owner from hazardous electromagnetic waves.
For 170 rubles, or just $5.5, anyone can purchase the sticker at so-called “church shops” in the Novgorod Region, where they are sold among accessories like crosses, prayer books and candles, Komsomolskaya Pravda daily writes Tuesday.
The round stickers are decorated with images of famous Russian churches and monasteries – such as Christ the Savior or the Trinity Laura. They are extremely popular with customers.
According to Svetlana Kokhan, who managers the protective stickers project, the stickers are a patented development of the Russian Academy of Sciences. They are made of a mineral called shungite, known for its healing characteristics.
“We have to print a new batch every month,” Svetlana says.
“The interest in our production is enormous – today you keep hearing how cellular phones and computers are bad for your health.”
To increase the technical healing effect, all stickers are blessed by a priest.

Extreme Animal Embryos

Seen above are parasitic wasp embryos, which apparently inspired the "alien birth" in Alien. From National Geographic's photo gallery of "'Extreme' Animal Embryos Revealed'":
In a biological attack unique in the animal world, the unassuming embryos (injected by their mother into a caterpillar) use a virus in their DNA to paralyze their host. They bite their way out of the caterpillar and begin spinning cocoons. As a final insult to the injured host, the caterpillar--apparently brain-addled by the virus--builds a silky blanket over its attackers and defends them against predators until the wasps emerge, fully formed, and take to the skies."IN THE WOMB: 'Extreme' Animal Embryos Revealed"

Funeral Service For What???????????

A toilet will be laid to rest today in Centerville.
Earlier this month, a customer at Carl’s Jr. accidentally shot and destroyed a toilet in the men’s room. Workers and visitors will hold a funeral today for the now-famous commode. On Carl’s Jr.’s Facebook page, a spokesman says, “Our thoughts go out to the surviving men’s room urinal and porcelain sink.”
The first 50 customers to attend the service will be given Kaboom brand bowl blaster toilet cleaner, which workers say was the toilet’s favorite.
“It was such a shame,” said Centerville Carl’s Jr. manager, Christian Martinez. “We have received e-mails and cards from all over the country expressing condolences for our loss. Un- freaking believable!!

This Robber Was No Hamburgler

A man returned to his home to find someone had broken in, but nothing was missing - except a $6 steak that was apparently cooked and eaten while he was away.
The man had broken a window to gain entry and rather than take anything decided to cook a steak that had been left out to defrost. Link

Top Liar of 2008 Goes To.............

MILWAUKEE - A whopper about a devious baby and his diapers is the top lie of 2008, an organization of champion fibbers declared Monday. The Burlington Liars Club bestowed its top award for this line: "My grandson is the most persuasive liar I have ever met. By the time he was 2 years old he could dirty his diaper and make his mother believe someone else had done it."
Garth Seehawer, 71, of Oconto Falls, said he took immense pride in having crafted the 2008 Champion Lie. "When you're the best in the world at something, sure, that's an honor," he said, insisting with a chuckle that his background as a lawyer gave him no advantage.
Four judges picked Seehawer's lie out of about 160 entries. The six runners-up included a fib about air passengers watching the movie "Cocoon" when turbulence hits, spilling water from the screen and causing the airliner's life rafts to inflate.
The Burlington Liars Club got its start in 1929 when local journalists Otis Hulett and Mannel Hahn fabricated a news story about a lying contest between the Burlington police and fire departments. The police chief won after he said he'd never be good at lying because he never told a lie.
From those beginnings, the club expanded to about 2,000 members around the world, said Eddie Impens, the club's vice president. It's headquartered in Burlington, a town about 35 miles southwest of Milwaukee.
Impens, who owns a lumber company, said most of this year's entries came from Wisconsin, though one arrived from Canada. He expected more entries from France, which historically has produced the best lies entered from overseas, he said.
